Hey guys!

So I'm in grad school and it's hard and I have a project due tomorrow and need to conduct a survey. If you don't mind taking it, I would really appreciate it! It's super short and should take two minutes max.

Thanksss!

(ps I miss LJ maybe I'll start using it again?)

two summers ago when I was working for Columbia, the Jonas Brothers were this newly signed band that not too many people really knew about. We (the girl interns), of course, all loved them and wanted to babysit them and stuff and listened to their album over and over until the boy interns broke it in half D:

Anyway, one day their dad came to the office for some reason, and upon finding out about how awesome we thought his sons were, gave us all signed posters.

Okay, so my undying love for the Jonas Brothers was mostly for the lolz and the supercute factor and the poster got lost in my black hole of a closet. (when i say black hole i mean it. i think i have notes from fifth grade in there) but then they became huge and i knew: i had to find that poster.

AND I DID. AND I AM GOING TO MAKE SO MUCH MONEY OFF OF IT I CAN'T WAIT.

So, while I'm at work, I sometimes read Craigslist when I have some downtime/cannot stare at an excel spreadsheet anymore.

This is possibly the number one best thing I've ever read in my life. Not even exaggerating. Seriously, I was like, biting my hand to keep from totally cracking up at work. It's AMAZING.

This one is pretty damn fabulous to.

I'm really curious about how many replies these crazies get.

UGH.

What a nightmare.

So, I work ~50 hours a week, make virtually no money, have no kitchen, and live in one of the highest rent areas of the city. These things make my life very expensive, so spending a lot of money on a (albeit much needed) manicure and pedicure is kind of out of the question unless I can convince my mother to come with me and pay. I found what I thought was a great place-- it calls itself a spa, the pictures on the website looked very nice, and i found a few good online reviews-- that was having a grand opening special: A manicure and pedicure for only $20.

I should have known right from the start that I was not going to have a good experience. I made an appointment at work, but when I mentioned it to the woman behind the counter, she just stared at me blankly. She didn't speak any English. Eventually, she handed me her cell phone and made me call her boss to confirm my appointment. Clearly, appointment books (and people who can communicate with their customers-- i mean, it's not like I was in Chinatown) are below them. Anyway, five minutes later when they concluded that yes, I did have an appointment, I was led to a pedicure chair.

Another woman got to work on my toes, and that was when I realized that she was storing the tools she was using on. the. floor. I asked-- which took several minutes because this one hardly spoke English either-- her if she could use sterile tools, which she did, but not after giving me an annoyed look like I was inconveniencing her. Um, I'd like to not get hepatitis, thank you. Since it was late (my appointment was for 8:00), another woman started my manicure at the same time. She was completely inept. She filed every one of my nails crookedly so that one side was considerably longer than the other and the edges were sharp and rough. When I pointed this out to her, she went to "fix" them, and eventually I told they were fine because I was afraid that if she kept it up, I would have no nails left.

The woman doing my toes did a decent job-- until she got to the painting part. Her first attempt had a big glob polish running down my big toe and her second was streaky and uneven. At this point, the owner (or so I assume) came out, took one look at my feet, and took over. She then fixed the mess of my fingernails.

All in all, I got a decent manicure and pedicure. Nothing that was worth more than $20 combined, but decent enough that I don't have to go elsewhere to have their mistakes remedied. Live and learn, you get what you pay for. That I could live with.

No, this trip was a nightmare for different reasons.

Since I had come straight from work, I was wearing heels and had brought a pair of flip flips with me to wear home after my pedicure. While I was getting my manicure, I had my heels sitting with my bag next to me. The woman who started my pedi came over and started complimenting my shoes. That's nice, I like compliments. But then she took it upon herself to TRY ON MY SHOE. I don't even let my FRIENDS wear my shoes, much less RANDOM STRANGERS. I couldn't even say anything, all I could do was stare in horror at this woman with her FOOT in my SHOE. Eventually the owner noticed how distraught I was and said something to the woman who took it off. I got nothing resembling an apology.

The other thing about this place... well... they specialize in massages. And this review from citysearch pretty much sums it up:

I went here for a facial and manicure - both were like something out of a deliquent beauty school. The women had virtually no training whatsoever. But that's not really the issue here....essentially they are using the cover "spa" to house a Bangkok style massage parlor. I was only there for 30min last night and within that time 5 men came in asking for "massages". Additionally, the giant black curly hairs on the towel used during the manicure was enough to send me over the edge. And this place is in Grammarcy! [sic] Seriously people, shut this place down already.

Yeah. At 8:00 on a Monday night, an alarming amount of men (I'd say at least 7) came for massages. Is this normal?

I really hope this place gets shut down. I can't get over how completely disgusted I am.

making the best of my perks and benefits

okay. i love working at madison square garden. love love love it. if you are in nyc and walk by the big 7th ave marquee, know that i filled out all the forms to make it happen. same with radio city music hall. and if you go to a show at the beacon theater or at radio city and you hear the pre show announcements, i wrote those.

anyway.

so tonight i went to my first show! it was hilary duff and it was AWESOME. i watched part of it from the roxy suite with important people, i had an all access pass and i got to go everrrrrywhere, including the meet and greet, where i think i busted an eardrum or two. but whatev, it was soooo cool being there and being semi important and stuff. and duff seems really sweet and she's super pretty in person and i never liked her before but now i kind of do.

and i love living in the city because nowwww i am going out and drinking even though i am so tired and so going to regret it tomorrow.

these are going to be the best six months of my life.

i got the job of my dreams yesterday!!!

actually, i got three jobs. i have to turn two of them down and i have no idea how to do that, but that's not important. i've been freaking out about co-op since i don't want to go back to sony and i started the whole process after everyone else was already placed and i was afraid i'd have to settle for the job that no one else wanted, but i ended up with my dream job. the job that didn't hire anyone else from my school this year.

starting in july and going until december, i will be interning at madison square garden (aka the most important stage on earth) in their concert marketing area. i get a $25 a day stipend, which is awesome since like, no other music industry internship pays anything at all, my own cubicle, phone line, and computer. i get to sit in on and contribute to meetings and do super important projects and live my dream. plus, i get tickets to cool shows and i get to watch my knicks play for freeeee!

i haven't been able to stop smiling since they called me yesterday.

and the other amazing thing is that i am living in the new yorker (the hotel, not the paper duh) which is literally right across the street. literally. no traveling involved!

yay me!

graaaaaades were finally posted.

A- in Honors RLC
A in Theater
A in Voice and Diction
B+ in Economics

and i PASSED computers. i didn't think i would because my teacher is a stupid, spiteful bitch who i thought was going to fail me because she hated me. i even had my advisor on call to appeal it for me. whatever. passed.

so yeah, that's a 3.75. i'm not upset about econ cause i worked my ass off in that class so that i wouldn't fail, but i could have done better in RLC. oh well, it's not like my GPA transfers or anything.

so yeah, les parentals are happy. and i'm happy cause no more studying!

I GOT INTO UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI AND I WANT TO GO BUT MY DAD SAID NO :( IDK I STILL DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO TO SCHOOL NEXT YEAR MY LIFE IS SO HARD.

LOL.

OKAY.

so, for my RLC class i'm writing my reseach essay on the future of the fast food industry. we were going over/critiquing our ideas during class, and people were like "you can't do that because you can't prove it."

no SHIT i can't prove it! i'm making an educated guess backed up by research. anyway, i was telling them that yeah, the only way i could prove it is if i could see the future...

and then it hit me:

psychics can "see the future"!

when i asked my teacher if i could interview a psychic, he laughed and i don't think he thought i was serious, but he told me to go for it.

so, ten minutes and $20 later, i interviewed a psychic for a research paper. i am amazing. the end.
